INDIAN ROCKS BEACH, Fla. (970 WFLA) – Pinellas County deputies say an 11-year-old Plant City boy saved a 3-year-old from drowning in a pool Thursday.

Deputies say it happened just before 4 p.m. at the Holiday Inn on the 400 block of 2nd street in Indian Rocks Beach.

According to deputies, the 3-year-old victim, identified as Dominic A. Cicco of Tallahassee, was swimming in the hotel pool with his father when another child nearby noticed Dominic unresponsive in the water. Deputies say 11-year-old Riley Cooper pulled Dominic from the water and others performed CPR and called 911.

Dominic was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Deputies say the near drowning does appear to be accidental and no charges are pending.
