FDOT rejects proposal for new toll facility in Pasco

TAMPA, Fla. (970 WFLA) - The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) said they have rejected the unsolicited proposal from International Infrastructure Partners, LLC to lease right of way owned by FDOT along the SR 54/SR 56 corridor in Pasco County for the purpose of designing, constructing, operating and maintaining a new toll facility.

FDOT Secretary Ananth Prasad said, "The department was unable to reach an agreement with International Infrastructure Partners, LLC on a framework of financing and various design concepts for the corridor that would be acceptable to all parties and address the concerns of the local community. In absence of this framework, advancing this project would not make any sense."

Projects in the FDOT five year work program will continue to move forward, including the widening of SR 54 from the Suncoast Parkway to west of US 41 and SR 54 from CR 577 (Curley Rd.) to CR 579 (Morris Bridge Rd.), transportation officials said Friday. Also funded in the work program is the new road construction on SR 56 from Meadow Point Blvd. to US 301, according to FDOT.
