CLEARWATER, Fla. (970 WFLA) - Headed to the beach? You might want to brush up on the stingray shuffle.

The Clearwater Beach Patrol is seeing an increase in stingray injuries. Stingrays have sharp barbs that contain venom which makes a sting or cut very painful.

When you go out into the water, be sure to shuffle your feet in the sand because stingrays will rest in the shallow water and camouflage themselves.

In some cases, shuffling your feet will scare them away.
