U.S. Marshal Killed, Police Officer Injured In Pennsylvania Shooting

A U.S. Marshal was shot and  killed while serving an arrest warrant in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on Thursday (January 18) morning. According to Penn Live, a York police officer was also shot but his injuries are not life threatening. While returning fire he managed to critically wound the suspect, according to ABC 27

The U.S. Attorney for Central Pennsylvania David Freed said there is no danger to the public and the shooting suspect is not at large. He did not release information on the officers, the suspect or their injuries. 

Dauphin County District Attorney Fran Chardo said that an investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies is under way. He said the U.S. Marshal’s Service, Pennsylvania State Police, and the FBI are on the scene, but offered few details about the on-going investigation. 

Harrisburg Mayor Eric Papenfuse released a statement mourning the loss of the fallen U.S. Marshal.

No words can adequately express the sadness we feel at this moment as we contemplate the loss of yet another law enforcement officer in the line of duty. I extend my sincerest condolences to the family of the slain U.S. Marshal, to his colleagues and to all law enforcement officers who risk their lives each day to protect and to serve our city and our nation.
