New York Attorney General Sues Trump And His Children Over Charity Group

New York Attorney General Barbara Underwood filed a lawsuit against President Donald Trump, his three eldest children, and the Donald J. Trump Foundation alleging that the charitable organization has been engaged "persistent illegal conduct" for over a decade.

“This pattern of illegal conduct by the Foundation and its board members includes improper and extensive political activity, repeated and willful self-dealing transactions, and failure to follow basic fiduciary obligations or to implement event elementary corporate formalities required by law.”

The complaint accused the charity of illegally supporting Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign claiming the foundation raised just under $3 million to help Trump's election bid. Trump is accused of using his foundation's money to pay for his legal fees and promote his businesses.

The lawsuit calls for the organization to be dissolved and is demanding $2.8 million, plus penalties, in restitution. Underwood also wants Trump banned from serving as a director of a non-profit group in New York for ten years.

President Trump slammed the lawsuit in a series of tweets on Thursday morning.

The sleazy New York Democrats, and their now disgraced (and run out of town) A.G. Eric Schneiderman, are doing everything they can to sue me on a foundation that took in $18,800,000 and gave out to charity more money than it took in, $19,200,000. I won’t settle this case!...

....Schneiderman, who ran the Clinton campaign in New York, never had the guts to bring this ridiculous case, which lingered in their office for almost 2 years. Now he resigned his office in disgrace, and his disciples brought it when we would not settle.
