Prosecutors Rule Tampa Police Shooting Justified

TAMPA -- The state attorney finds a deadly police shooting in Tampa to be justified.

Jonas Joseph was shot to death April 28th. The prosecutors' report says he was pulled over in connection with a drive by shooting, and put his car in reverse, then pointed a gun at officers.

Two guns were recovered at the scene, according to the state attorney's report, one of which matched ballistics evidence from the drive-by.

Chief Brian Dugan said in a statement that it's clear officers were forced to respond.

A Black Lives Matter chapter in Polk County has described Joseph's death as murder, and has been calling on police to release video.

"We don't trust the credibility of the Tampa Police. or the state attorney's office," a spokesperson said at a Thursday morning news conference."We are going to be calling on the FBI (and others) to investigate this case... and we are demaning an arrest for each and every officer."
