Tampa Congresswoman Confabs with Celebs on Climate


TAMPA -- A Florida congresswoman is leading a panel discussion on climate change and environmental justice Saturday morning.

Tampa Democrat Kathy Castor, who's Speaker Nancy Pelosi's point person on climate issues, is holding a panel discussion Saturday morning titled "Answering the Imperative: Advancing Environmental, Racial and Economic Justice."

According to a news release from her office, conference participants include the Dalai Lama, Dr. Jane Goodall, Former Secretary of State Dr. Madeleine K. Albright, and Bono. Also joining Castor, Dr. Robert Bullard, nd former EPA administrator Gina McCarthy, now president of the Natural Resources Defense Council.

The event is part of Pelosi's meeting with her parliamentary counterparts in the G-7 nations.

Castor heads the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis, which rolled out a Climate Action plan earlier this year. It calls on "empowering environmental justice communities" to seek environmental justice.
