Tampa Police Fire on Man After Store Robbery

TAMPA -- Two officers are unhurt and a suspect is hospitalized after a police-involved shooting Tuesday.

Tampa police chief Brian Dugan told reporters that the two officers were responding to a robbery at the Dollar General store, on 3110 North 50th Street. Five blocks away, they intercepted the suspect who was on foot. The officers are unhurt but the suspect went to the hospital and there's no word on his condition.

A gun was recovered at the scene but Dugan wouldn't confirm that the suspect was armed during the confrontation. Dugan told reporters he hopes to have more information and possibly video later in the day.

Dugan said the two officers are a 48-year-old with 25 years experience and a 24-year-old with two years as an officer.
