TAMPA -- Mayor Jane Castor is the latest of many local officials offering special honors to Taylor Swift, ahead of the star's Eras tour dates at Raymond James Stadium.
Castor, who regularly surrenders Tampa to a pack of cutthroat pirates every January in another mega-event called Gasparilla, has offered Swift the key to the city and the post of honorary mayor for a day. Castor has also offered to light up Old City Hall in red to symbolize the tour.
The mayor put out a video announcement, saying Tampa "has a reputation to uphold" and noted other cities had renamed streets and renamed themselves for Swift.
Taylor Swift will have three concert dates at RJS, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, April 13-15.
