15 Injured When School Bus Overturns In New Jersey

A school bus carrying 31 people overturned on the Garden State Parkway in Montvale, New Jersey, on Monday night (March 10), injuring 15 individuals. The crash occurred around 7:39 p.m. near milepost 170.5. The bus, driven by a 44-year-old man, was en route from New Jersey to New York when it veered off the right side of the road and overturned.

Among the injured were 14 children and the bus driver. One child sustained serious injuries, while the others, including the driver, suffered minor to moderate injuries. Thirteen of the injured were transported to local hospitals.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation. New Jersey State Police and the Department of Transportation are involved in the ongoing inquiry. Montvale Mayor Mike Ghassali expressed his concern, stating, "Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured and their families during this difficult time." New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy also acknowledged the incident on social media, noting that no fatalities were reported.

Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, where video footage showed the yellow school bus on its side with the rear emergency door open. The crash took place near the James Gandolfini Service Area.
