Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Company LLC recalled two lots of its "Mauna Loa Dark Chocolate Covered Macadamias" on April 26 due to the undeclared presence of a common allergen.
According to the United States Food & Drug Administration, the recalled product, distributed to retail stores across 16 states (including locations in Florida) was mislabeled and does not include an ingredient callout for almonds and cashews which pose the risk of a "serious or life-threatening allergic reaction" to individuals allergic to the ingredients not listed on the faulty labels.
Consumers should avoid consuming Mauna Loa Dark Chocolate Covered Macadamias with UPC code 0 72992 05464 4, lot codes, K5069C1 and K5069C2 and best by date 10/2026. Customers can find the aforementioned information on the back of the recalled Mauna Loa Dark Chocolate Covered Macadamia packages.
There have been no allergic reactions reported as a result of consuming the mislabeled product (as of April 26). Officials are urging consumers who have already purchased the recalled products to return them for a full refund.
